A few quick tips for dealing with finger injuries

I use my hands a lot - between the sports I'm involved in (climbing and jiu-jitsu) and my work as an osteopath, it's not uncommon to find myself with sore fingers; so I've given a fair bit of thought to looking after them. If you've sprained a finger joint, here's a couple of things you can do straight away that can often help to reduce pain and improve mobility.

If you're in a great deal of pain, or if there's a visible deformity or total loss of movement then please see a medical professional to rule out a more serious injury first (such as a fracture, dislocation or tendon rupture).
